MUKAH: Two plantation workers were detained today (May 24) on suspicion of involvement in drug abuse activities.
According to Mukah district police chief Muhamad Rizal Alias, the suspects are a 46-year-old foreign national, and a 21-year-old local man.
Both are employed as labourers at an oil palm plantation company.
“The two men appeared to be under the influence of drugs when they were detained by the company’s security personnel around 1 am.
“A urine screening test was later conducted by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), and both suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.
The suspects are being detained at Mukah Police Station, and the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
