SIBU: Three families who lost their longhouse units in a fire have received food assistance from the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu Branch.

The aid, comprising rice, eggs, instant noodles and biscuits, was presented by SDNU Sibu Branch’s Chairman, Chambai Lindong, during a visit to Rumah Udin Nasat in Sengan on Wednesday (July 1).

Also present were SDNU Sibu Welfare Bureau Chairman, Jawi Anom; SDNU Sibu Secretary, Samuel Sila; and SDNU Sibu executive committee member, Wilson Linggong.

Speaking to reporters, Chambai expressed his heartfelt sympathy for the families, who lost their homes in the devastating blaze.

“We at SDNU Sibu are deeply saddened by the tragedy that has affected these three families. It is a very difficult ordeal, but we pray that they will be granted the strength and resilience to overcome this challenging period,” he said.

He also called on the relevant government agencies to provide follow-up assistance promptly to help the affected families rebuild their lives.

“SDNU Sibu sincerely hopes that the relevant authorities and welfare agencies will take immediate action to ease the burden faced by the victims during this difficult time,” he added.
