BAU: The completion of the new Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) activity building in Kampung Jagoi Duyoh here marks a significant milestone for the local community, ending nearly two decades of operating from a rented house.

The RM200,000 project was implemented under the Sarawak Government’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation, reflecting the state’s continued commitment to improving community welfare and strengthening support services for persons with disabilities in rural areas.

Construction of the new facility began in December 2025 and was completed within five months.

Before the completion of the purpose-built centre, PDK Jagoi Duyoh had been renting a resident’s house for almost 20 years to conduct its rehabilitation programmes and daily activities.

Located in Kampung Jagoi Duyoh, one of the villages within the Tasik Biru state constituency, the new building is expected to provide a more conducive, comfortable and accessible environment for trainees, staff and caregivers.

Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Marine), who is Tasik Biru assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, congratulated the staff and personnel of PDK Jagoi Duyoh on the successful completion of the project.

He said the new building symbolises the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of community-based rehabilitation services, particularly for those living in rural areas.

Henry expressed confidence that the upgraded facility would enable the centre to carry out its programmes more effectively while providing greater comfort and convenience for both staff and participants.

He also hoped the new premises would further strengthen the centre’s role in empowering persons with disabilities through rehabilitation, skills development and community participation.

The completion of the building is expected to benefit the surrounding community by providing a dedicated space for rehabilitation activities and creating a more supportive environment for the continued growth and development of PDK Jagoi Duyoh.
