KUCHING: Sarawak has launched the MySeDidik application, marking a major step in digitalising early childhood education under the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the launch shows that digitalisation is no longer limited to industries and government services but is now extending to early childhood education.

He said that this reflects Sarawak’s goal of starting digital learning from the earliest stage.

“When we invest in early childhood education, we are in fact investing in Sarawak’s future prosperity, while embracing digital innovation strengthens the state’s competitiveness.

“More than that, it is a manifestation of the Sarawak Government’s commitment to continue investing in the development of our children, elevating innovation as a driver of progress, and preparing future generations to face an increasingly fast-changing world,” he said.

He said this in his text-of-speech read by Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at the MySedidik Apps launching ceremony held at Penview Convention Centre here yesterday (July 6).

As of April 30, the 2026 preschool curriculum has been fully digitalised across all 107 SeDidik centres.

The system is currently used by 2,743 students, 6,059 parents, and 471 staff members, who rely on the platform daily to support teaching, learning, and communication.

“Every day, these users rely on MySeDidik to enhance teaching, learning and communication, demonstrating that digital transformation is no longer an aspiration but an existing reality,” he said.

When asked on what the launch signifies and the next phase of development, SeDidik Sarawak general manager Ayub Dahari said the next phase will focus on expanding usability in centres with limited internet connectivity.

He said some centres without stable internet can still use basic functions such as attendance and parent-related features, while other functions like online payment remain dependent on connectivity.

He added that the next development phase will also integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the application to enhance its capabilities and overall performance.
