SIBU: More than 3,000 people from Sibu and neighbouring areas turned out for Farley Riang Ria 2.0 today (July 12), as the community wellness event returned with a larger line-up of activities promoting healthy living, family bonding and social engagement.

Organised by Farley Sibu, the event, held at its stage along Jalan Salim here, was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian. Also in attendance were Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh, Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie and Farley Sibu Supermarket’s Yeo Soon Teck.

In his welcoming address, Farley Group director Eiyen Lau said the event was more than just a recreational gathering, describing it as a platform that brings the community together while encouraging healthier lifestyles.

“Today, we are delighted to bring together more than 3,000 members of the Sibu community for a day filled with fun, fitness, family bonding and meaningful engagement. This event is a celebration of healthy living, togetherness and community spirit,” he said.

Lau said the 4km Fun Run was among the highlights of the programme, complemented by 10 specially designed games aimed at promoting both physical activity and mental wellbeing among participants of all ages.

He added that Farley was proud to collaborate with healthcare providers, government agencies and community organisations in making the event more meaningful.

Besides the Fun Run, participants enjoyed a warm-up Zumba session, interactive games, product sampling booths, family-friendly activities and the much-anticipated grand lucky draw, featuring prizes such as an iPad, television, smartphone and washing machine.

The event also offered free health screenings by KPJ Medical Centre and Alpro Pharmacy, dental check-ups by the Ministry of Health, as well as exhibitions by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Bomba).

Lau also highlighted the participation of MAPPAC Malaysian Children’s Hospice Sibu, noting that Yayasan Farley has been supporting the organisation by providing a venue for its regular activities, reflecting the company’s commitment to community welfare.

Expressing appreciation to sponsors, volunteers, partners and participants, Lau said their unwavering support had been instrumental in the success of Farley Riang Ria 2.0.

“We remain committed to organising community-focused initiatives that promote healthy living, strengthen family values and foster meaningful engagement. We look forward to welcoming even more participants in future editions of Farley Riang Ria,” he said.
