KUALA LUMPUR: Solar District Cooling Group Bhd’s (SDCG) wholly owned subsidiary, Solar District Cooling Sdn Bhd (SDC), has secured an RM18.5-million contract to upgrade existing building management systems (BMS) at rail transit stations and their ancillary buildings.

SDCG said SDC has accepted a letter of award for the project, which involves enhancing and modernising BMS infrastructure across selected rail transit facilities.

SDCG, however, did not disclose the company that awarded the contract.

“The works will support the optimisation of building operations within high-traffic public transportation environments, where reliability, energy efficiency and system integration are critical,” it said in a statement.

The 24-month project will run from July 15, 2026, to July 15, 2028.

SDCG’s Managing Director, Edison Kong, said the project will further strengthen the group’s presence in the transportation infrastructure segment.

“This award reflects our proven track record and technical capabilities in delivering reliable and efficient BMS solutions for mission-critical environments,” he said.

Kong added that the group remains focused on delivering sustainable value while capturing opportunities in the public and private sectors.

SDCG said the project is expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings and net assets for the financial year ending December 31, 2026, and until its completion.

“Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the group does not expect any material risks arising from the project other than normal operational risks associated with project execution, for which appropriate mitigation measures are in place,” it said.

SDCG also said its board of directors views the project as being in the ordinary course of business and in the company’s best interest.

“None of the directors or substantial shareholders, or persons connected to them, has any interest, direct or indirect, in the project,” it said. – BERNAMA
