KAPIT: The Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) has officially opened its Kapit Divisional Office to strengthen the delivery of services related to natural resource conservation and environmental protection in the division.
Sarawak Controller of Environmental Quality, Datuk Jack Liam, officiated at the opening ceremony of the new office, located at Jalan Bleteh here today.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the new office marks a significant step in enhancing NREB’s presence in Kapit, particularly in conserving natural resources, protecting the environment, and enforcing environmental regulations.
“It is also expected to improve service delivery to the local community while strengthening environmental monitoring and management efforts in line with Sarawak’s sustainable development agenda,” it said.
Also present was a delegation from the NREB Sarawak’s headquarters, who accompanied Jack to Kapit in support of the commencement of operations at the divisional office.
