KUCHING: A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol during roadblock operations along Jalan Tabuan here last Thursday (Jul 23).
Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrest was made during ‘Ops Mabuk’ conducted by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (BSPT).
He said police stopped the man and administered a breathalyser test, which found that his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
The suspect was arrested and the case is being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
During the same operations, a total of 26 summonses were also issued for various traffic offences.
Alexson said the department would continue to intensify enforcement operations to ensure the safety of all road users.

He also advised the public not to drive after consuming alcoholic beverages and to always comply with traffic laws.
