Driver injured after 4WD ploughed three parked vehicles

MIRI: A driver was injured after a four-wheel drive vehicle ploughed into three vehicles parked along Jalan Lutong Kuala Baram on Tuesday afternoon, with preliminary investigations suggesting the motorist may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 4.54pm. A team from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at 4.56pm, just two minutes after the call, following a journey of approximately two kilometres.

Firefighters found that the four-wheel driver had collided with three vehicles parked on the roadside. Initial findings indicate the driver was believed to have dozed off before losing control of the vehicle.

The driver suffered injuries to the left leg. No other injuries or casualties were reported.

A total of six firefighters and one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) were deployed to the scene under the command of Senior Fire Officer PBK I Amindra Lapiaman.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
