KUCHING: The Bahasa Malaysia Ministry of the Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (SCAC), Methodist Church in Malaysia, will celebrate its 25th anniversary simultaneously tomorrow (August 8) across four zones in Sarawak.
The celebration will be held simultaneously in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri under the theme ‘Thankfulness and Hope’.
The ministry said, over the past 25 years, it has moved beyond ethnic boundaries and developed into a ministry that reaches across races, languages and cultures.
“In Sarawak’s multicultural society, the ministry serves as a bridge connecting diverse communities.
“Through Bahasa Malaysia as a common language, the Bahasa Malaysia Ministry has broadened the Church’s mission and vision, and enabled the Gospel to be proclaimed across linguistic and cultural boundaries, bringing hope and spiritual significance to the people of Sarawak,” it said.
The Bahasa Malaysia Ministry was established in 2001 at Trinity Methodist Church, Kuching, with only one Bahasa Malaysia worship service at the time.
After 25 years of development, the ministry has expanded to 33 churches and preaching centres under SCAC.
It continues to provide Bahasa Malaysia worship services, discipleship training, and pastoral care, serving people from diverse backgrounds.
It added that the thanksgiving programme will begin simultaneously in four zones with a fellowship dinner at 6:00 pm, followed by the Thanksgiving Service at 7:30 pm.
In Sibu, the celebration dinner will be held at SJK (C) Methodist School Hall and the Thanksgiving Service will be at Masland Methodist Church.
For Miri, the dinner celebration and service will be held at Mei Ann Methodist Church.
For Kuching, the celebration as well as the service will be held at Trinity Methodist Church.
Meanwhile in Bintulu, the celebration and the Thanksgiving Service will be held at Gloria Methodist Church.
