Singer Wani Kayrie has come under fire from netizens over her outfit in the music video (MV) for her latest single, Pulang, which was released yesterday.
The 26-year-old singer appears in the MV wearing a sheer lace-inspired outfit paired with a nude-coloured corset, with some viewers describing the look as too revealing and inappropriate.
Several of Wani’s followers took to Threads to voice their disapproval, with some questioning whether the outfit was appropriate given her Muslim background.
“Don’t you think the outfit is a bit too much?” one user commented on Wani’s post.
Another user urged the singer to pay greater attention to her choice of attire, while stressing that the criticism was intended as a reminder rather than an attack.
“Wani Kayrie, sorry for pointing this out. You are a sweet lady. I feel your outfit in this MV is very embarrassing, especially when it is seen by men.
Some followers also suggested that Wani consider reworking the MV, citing singer Mimifly’s decision to alter the concept of her ‘Serumpun’ MV following criticism.
“Sorry to say this, but if Mimifly could change her MV, surely you can too, Wani,” one user commented.
Another follower went a step further, calling on Wani to remove the MV altogether, claiming that the outfit was inappropriate.
“Delete it. The outfit choice is terrible. What kind of clothes are those? You can already tell something is off without even watching the video. I didn’t even intend to see it; it appeared on my Threads feed,” the user wrote.
Wani’s Threads post has since attracted more than 1,000 comments, with much of the discussion centred on her appearance and outfit in the MV.
