SERIAN: The Serian Division Social Welfare Office is appealing to the public to help locate the biological mother or next of kin of two children found in Kampung Menjau near here.
In a statement dated Aug 14, the office identified the children as Cecelia Helena, 12, and Candylia Helena, 10, who were found at Kampung Menjau, Batu 21, Jalan Kuching/Serian, on Jul 21.
The statement named the children’s mother as Helena Annus.
The office said it was seeking the mother or a legitimate next of kin to assist in follow-up action and matters relating to the children’s welfare, including birth certificate registration for citizenship purposes and to determine a suitable form of care or placement in the children’s best interest.
It said the confidentiality of any mother or next of kin who came forward would be guaranteed.
Members of the public with information were urged to contact welfare officer Elssie Robin at 082-892288, or to appear in person at the Serian Division Social Welfare Office for further action.
The release of the statement has been sanctioned by the Serian Children’s Court pursuant to Section 15 of the Child Act 2001.
