KUCHING: Team TRIFOLD X, representing Kelab Anak Asal Bukit Saban (KAABS), emerged champion of the Artificial Filmmaking Hackathon Creators Lab Malaysia 2026, held at the Telekom Museum in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The team, led by TRIFOLD X Sdn Bhd director and KAABS adviser Dr Louis Laja Uggah, comprised Mixson Blaki, Nehemia Raymond Segar and Cornelius Mambang Jimbat.
The victory has earned TRIFOLD X the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) 2026 in Singapore this December, where it will compete against teams from countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and the United Kingdom.
The hackathon challenged participants to produce a film using artificial intelligence (AI), with each team given only four hours to create a pilot episode of a short drama.
Participants utilised Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 technology in developing their productions before presenting their completed works to industry guests, media representatives and platform partners.
The programme served as Malaysia’s national round of the Creators Lab AIGC series, which was previously held in Los Angeles and Singapore.
A total of 20 teams participated, comprising one team each from Sarawak and Sabah, and 18 teams from Peninsular Malaysia.
TRIFOLD X took home the Gold Award, receiving RM3,000 worth of Seedance AI credits, while AKSARA won the Silver Award worth RM2,000 and KNKV NEXT secured the Bronze Award worth RM1,000.
For TRIFOLD X and KAABS, the achievement not only demonstrates the capabilities of Sarawakian talents in creative technology but also provides an avenue for talents from Bukit Saban to gain international exposure.
The team said the success underscored the potential of combining creativity, AI technology and storytelling to showcase local talent on a wider platform.
