KUCHING: Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (TEKUN) Nasional has been urged to step up efforts to promote its financing initiatives and programmes to ensure more entrepreneurs in Sarawak are aware of the assistance available to them.
Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said greater awareness of financing institutions and their role could help build entrepreneurs’ capacity and competitiveness while supporting entrepreneurship development in the state.
According to a statement from Astana Sarawak, Wan Junaidi made the call when receiving a courtesy visit from a TEKUN Nasional delegation at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here today.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on entrepreneurship development, strengthening the micro, small and medium enterprise ecosystem and expanding access to financing, particularly for Sarawak entrepreneurs.
Wan Junaidi, who previously served as federal Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, also shared his experience and offered advice to TEKUN Nasional on improving its services to entrepreneurs.
The delegation was led by TEKUN Nasional’s Chairman, Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, accompanied by his wife, Datin Faizah Ariffin.
Also present were TEKUN Nasional board member, Datuk Zainal Abidin Abdul Hamid; Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mohd Shiblie Abang Sapuan; TEKUN Sarawak’s manager, Roslan Ais, and other senior officials.
Wan Junaidi’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, was also present.
