SIBU: University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) has resumed admissions for its Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) programme after matters relating to the programme were satisfactorily resolved following engagement with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
In an official announcement today (Sept 1), the university said the temporary deferment imposed on Aug 5 had been lifted, allowing new students to apply for the next available intake.
“Following our engagement with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), the matters relating to the Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) programme have been satisfactorily resolved. The temporary deferment announced on 5 August 2026 is therefore lifted for the programme,” it said.
UTS said prospective students may now apply and enrol directly into the programme, while Foundation Bursary recipients who had earlier opted to defer may proceed with their studies as planned.

The university also assured that current students and graduates of the programme remain fully accredited and were unaffected by the temporary deferment.
UTS explained that the earlier decision to defer new admissions was taken to ensure the programme met the required standards in full before admitting another cohort.
“The deferment was a deliberate decision to ensure the programme met the required standards in full before admitting a new cohort. That work is now complete, and BCS resumes from a stronger position,” it said.
On Aug 5, UTS temporarily deferred new admissions into the Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours) programme while matters concerning the programme were being addressed.
