KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will take appropriate action against contractors whose maintenance works have failed to meet the required service standards.
The issue was identified during a site inspection led by MPKS Municipal Council chairman Abang Ismawi Abang Ali, together with councillors from the Muara Tuang State constituency, at several locations that had drawn complaints from residents on Thursday (Sept 3).
The inspection focused on grass cutting and drainage maintenance works, particularly in the Taman Desa Ilmu area.
“The inspection found that some works carried out by appointed contractors had yet to achieve the stipulated level of service and required immediate attention,” MPKS said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).
The council said action would be taken against the contractors concerned to ensure that all works are carried out according to the required specifications, standards and service levels.

The site visit also allowed MPKS to assess conditions on the ground and identify the necessary remedial measures more accurately, particularly involving cleanliness, drainage systems and the maintenance of residential areas.
MPKS said it would continue carrying out regular inspections and monitoring to ensure maintenance works were conducted consistently and in accordance with the prescribed service standards.
The council added that the effort reflected its commitment to ensuring public complaints receive due attention and are addressed promptly, while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of local authority service delivery.
