PADAWAN: A motorcyclist was killed after a sudden lane change led to a car crashing into his motorcycle at Mile 16, Jalan Kuching-Serian, last night (Sept 7).
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Low Tit Fui, was riding a Yamaha Ego Avantiz towards Kuching from Serian when he allegedly switched lanes at around 7.45pm.
A Honda City Hatchback then crashed into the motorcycle from behind after its driver was unable to avoid the sudden manoeuvre.
The impact sent Low flying onto the road, while his motorcycle skidded into the left lane.
Padawan police chief Supt Barry William said the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.57pm by a medical assistant.
His body was later taken to the hospital for further action.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old female driver and her 54-year-old female passenger escaped unhurt.
Barry said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
