KUCHING: AirBorneo’s constrained fleet is disrupting flights across Sarawak and Sabah, with further delays expected in the coming days.
The airline said the disruption, which began on June 5, had led to delays and cancellations across the two states.
According to AirBorneo, some disruption is expected to continue as several aircraft are undergoing maintenance and technical rectification simultaneously.
It said its operating fleet remains temporarily constrained while the affected aircraft are progressively returned to service.
“The disruptions were caused by a combination of factors, including unscheduled technical rectification on several aircraft, scheduled maintenance already in progress, and operational and crew duty requirements,” said the airline.
AirBorneo said safety remains its primary consideration in making operational decisions.
“Where an aircraft has required technical attention, it has been withdrawn from service as a precaution until our engineers are fully satisfied it is fit to fly,” it added.
The airline advised passengers to expect the possibility of further schedule changes, cancellations and delays during the affected period.
Passengers travelling with AirBorneo are encouraged to confirm their flight status before heading to the airport.
The airline said affected passengers are being contacted directly and re-accommodated on the earliest available alternative flights.
“We are committed to restoring our full schedule as quickly as it is safe to do so,” it said.
Affected passengers may contact AirBorneo’s Customer Care team at +60-82-537 555 for international enquiries or 1-300-22-1388 for local enquiries.
