KUCHING: The BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) extends its gratitude to Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport Sarawak, for his steadfast support in addressing and resolving critical regulatory disparities and backhaul logistics challenges impacting trade and transport operations between Sabah and Sarawak.
According to a media statement, the recent decision by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) Sabah to lift restrictions on Sarawak transporters marks a crucial step in enhancing regional trade, reducing financial burdens on transporters, lowering delivery costs for consumers and strengthening economic ties between Sarawak and Sabah.
“Minister of Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin’s dedication to improving Sarawak’s transportation infrastructure has been instrumental in driving this progress, fostering collaboration among industry players and government agencies, and significantly contributing to a more seamless and cost-effective transportation network that benefits all Sarawakians.”
The chairman of BEBC Malaysia, Nobel Pang, praised the proactive steps taken by the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP).
Collaborating with key stakeholders, including representatives from the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) and the Sarawak Forwarding Agencies Association (SFAA), has been vital in addressing the industry’s challenges.
The BEBC looks forward to ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Transport Sarawak and other stakeholders to further improve the efficiency and resilience of East Malaysia’s transportation sector.
