KUALA LUMPUR: K-pop legends BIGBANG will return to Malaysia for the first time in 11 years as part of their newly announced 2026–27 World Tour.
The iconic South Korean group is scheduled to perform at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil on Jan 9, 2027, marking their first group concert in Malaysia since the MADE [V.I.P] Tour stop in Kuala Lumpur in 2016.
For Malaysian fans, the announcement carries added significance.
Earlier this year, BIGBANG leader G-Dragon hinted that a reunion and return to Malaysia could be on the cards while addressing fans during his appearance at K-Star Spark in Kuala Lumpur.
“I’ll be back soon, we’re making a comeback (BIGBANG),” he said.
“It’s our 20th anniversary. I’ll be back.
“Me and my members then, will come back to Malaysia – maybe, we’ll see.
“It depends on how you do.
“You want it? Okay tak?”
The remarks sent fans into a frenzy at the time, with many viewing them as the clearest indication yet that BIGBANG were preparing for a reunion.
Months later, those hints have become reality.
The tour forms part of BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary celebrations and will feature the group’s current line-up of G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung.
Debuting in 2006 under YG Entertainment, BIGBANG are widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in K-pop history, helping pave the way for the genre’s global rise with hits such as Haru Haru, Fantastic Baby, Bang Bang Bang, Blue, Loser and Sober.
Although the group has undergone significant changes over the years, the trio have continued to carry the BIGBANG legacy through solo music releases, tours and special performances.
The upcoming world tour will begin in Goyang, South Korea, before making stops in Auckland, East Rutherford, Paris, London, Taipei, Singapore, Hanoi, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Kaohsiung.
The Kuala Lumpur stop will be among the final Asian dates of the tour before it concludes in Taiwan later that month.
