BINTULU: The upgrading project to transform Bintulu Vocational Secondary School to Bintulu Vocational School was officially handed over today after being completed 49 days ahead of schedule.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the RM21.5 million project marked another key initiative under the MADANI Government through the Public Works Department (PWD).

“With this upgrade, new workshops have been introduced, including culinary arts, fashion, cosmetology, electrical, electronics, CAD, welding technology, wiring, and a mock office.

“These facilities will serve as the best training platform to produce a highly skilled workforce,” he said when officiating the handover ceremony of the upgrading project of Bintulu Vocational Secondary School to Bintulu Vocational School here today (Aug 18).

Nanta added the upgraded facilities were built to meet modern standards and align with industry needs, ensuring that graduates remain relevant and highly employable.

The project, entrusted to PWD’s Special Project Team 2 (PPK2) and carried out by contractor Asarajaya Sdn Bhd, not only enhances physical infrastructure but also aims to inspire a renewed spirit of excellence among educators and students.

Acknowledging the timely completion, Nanta praised the professionalism and commitment of all parties involved.

“The project was completed 49 days ahead of schedule without requiring any extension of time. This is a clear reflection of efficient project management, smooth communication, and strong teamwork between the client, project team, and contractor,” he said.

He also reminded the contractor to remain committed to addressing any defects promptly during the Defect Liability Period (DLP), while the PWD would continue monitoring post-handover to ensure the facilities remain in top condition.

“This success proves that the MADANI Government’s aspirations are translated into action—projects that are of high quality, completed on time, and bring added value to the community,” Nanta said.

He expressed hope that the new facilities would be well-maintained and fully utilised to nurture future generations of skilled Sarawakians.
