KUCHING: The National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) Sarawak and Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) are strengthening cooperation to improve consumer awareness and public access to official complaint channels.

UKAS said the cooperation will focus on consumer rights advocacy, e-commerce literacy and safe internet campaigns, as well as raising awareness of proper procedures for lodging complaints through official platforms.

“Both sides are also looking at efforts to support the local and digital economy and encourage greater community participation through outreach programmes,” it said in a news report.

The areas of cooperation were discussed during a courtesy call by MTPN Sarawak on UKAS at Baitulmakmur Building here on Monday (Aug 17).

The MTPN delegation was led by its Sarawak Region chief Lucas Lau, accompanied by the council’s bureau chiefs.

They were received by UKAS deputy director Mohamed Faizal Shah Ali and senior UKAS officers.
