DBKU committed in ensuring safe, violent free workplace

KUCHING: A workshop cum awareness talk on sexual harassment and domestic violence was organised by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) its auditorium today (September 9).

The session on workplace sexual harassment was delivered by chief assistant registrar, Norhamimah Buang from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Integrity Division, Office of the Vice Chancellor.

Meanwhile, the talk on domestic violence was presented by Inspector Noor Shazalina Ambo Ache, who serves as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) with the Royal Malaysia Police.

According to DBKU, the programme aimed at fostering a safe, professional and ethical work culture among its staff.

It said several key objectives were highlighted, including enhancing understanding of employees’ rights and legal protection concerning sexual harassment and domestic violence, raising awareness of the dangers and implications of workplace sexual harassment, and nurturing a caring attitude towards the safety and well-being of colleagues.

“DBKU is committed to ensuring a workplace that is free from any form of harassment and violence, in line with continuous efforts to build an organisation of integrity and competitiveness,” it added.
