KUCHING: The Dayak Bidayuh Nasional Association (DBNA) will organise a one-day Bidayuh Cultural Heritage Workshop at its headquarters here on Saturday, Aug 11.
The workshop aims to gather and document information and other relevant materials to support content development for the proposed Bidayuh Heritage Gallery project.
It also seeks to formulate strategies to preserve and promote the Bidayuh community’s rich cultural heritage, customs, traditions, language, arts and identity for future generations.
Participants will include cultural practitioners, researchers, academics, community leaders, representatives from Bidayuh associations and other relevant stakeholders.
The workshop will be held at the DBNA Multipurpose Hall, Jalan Kumpang, off Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.
According to the tentative programme, the workshop will begin with a welcoming address by DBNA’s President, Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, followed by a keynote address by the Guest of Honour.
Sarawak Museum Curator, Rebecca Richard Beginda, will then deliver a presentation on the proposed Bidayuh Heritage Gallery project before participants break into thematic group discussions.
The programme will also feature discussions on gallery content, multimedia and interactive exhibits, as well as the proposed gallery layout to help shape the development of the heritage gallery.
