KOTA SAMARAHAN: A trader succumbed to his injuries following a crash involving two vehicles along Jalan Kota Samarahan-Asajaya on Saturday (June 27).
Acting Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Barry William said the accident was reported to have occurred around 3.30 am.
“Preliminary investigations found that a pickup truck, which was driven by a 29-year-old woman, was travelling from Kuching towards Asajaya when it suddenly swerved into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with an oncoming van driven by the 54-year-old victim.
“Both drivers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment. The van driver, however, succumbed to his injuries at 9.39 pm while receiving treatment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the van’s 67-year-old female passenger escaped the crash without injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
