KUCHING: Eight individuals, including two women, have been arrested on suspicion of splashing red paint on residences and vehicles as a form of intimidation towards individuals indebted to loan sharks.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah lsaid the suspects, aged between 19 and 47, were detained across the city last month.
Two of them tested positive for drugs and had prior records related to drug offences and other crimes.
“The police seized a car, two knives, two cans of red paint, and two phones.
“With that, we have resolved five cases of mischief under Section 427 of the Penal Code,” he added.
If convicted, offenders can be jailed up to two years, fined or both.
Ahsmon encouraged the public to report any criminal activities to the nearest police station for prompt action.
