KANOWIT: A septuagenarian has been reported missing after leaving his home to tend to a farm near the Templete Ranan plantation here on Friday (Dec 6).
The man, identified as 75-year-old Lai Juing, was last seen leaving his home at Rh Adrian Sungai Ranan around 11am. He has not returned since.
Lai, who reportedly suffers from amnesia, was wearing a white undershirt, a dark blue outer shirt, and black long pants at the time he went missing.
Family members, concerned for his safety, conducted an initial search but were unable to locate him.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that they received a distress call yesterday (Dec 7) at 3.15pm.
Firefighters from Kanowit station were dispatched to the area, about 10km away, to initiate the search and rescue (SAR) operation involving local villagers.
At the time of writing, Lai remains missing.
