Family of three injured after car veers off road

SELANGAU: Three members of a family, including an eight-year-old girl, were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road at the Tamin P-Turn here this morning.

The driver, a 46-year-old man, suffered an open wound to his forehead, while a 40-year-old woman sustained a cut to her chin.

Meanwhile, the child suffered abrasions to her forehead and knee.

Selangau Civil Defence Force (APM) Officer Lt Aziah Husin said they received a distress call at around 8.40am and dispatched a four-member team to the scene, about 23km away.

Upon arrival, they found the three victims at the scene with members of the public, while police had already secured the area.

“Our team administered first aid by cleaning the victims’ wounds with saline solution.

“All three victims were later handed over to an ambulance from Selangau Health Clinic for further treatment,” she said.

The operation ended at 9.12am.

The cause of the accident is under police investigation.
