MIRI: Firefighters from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station swiftly cleared a fallen tree that blocked part of Jalan Pantai Lutong today, preventing further disruption to traffic and ensuring the safety of road users.

The incident was reported at 7.29am when a member of the public alerted the Fire and Rescue Department to a tree that had toppled onto the road.

A five-member firefighting team was immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived about 10 minutes later.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the tree lying across the roadway, obstructing traffic and posing a potential hazard to motorists.

Following an assessment of the situation, the team used chainsaws to cut and remove the fallen tree before carrying out safety checks to ensure the area was safe for public use.

The operation was completed shortly after 8am, with no injuries reported.

The Fire and Rescue Department advised motorists to remain vigilant, particularly during periods of unpredictable weather, as strong winds and heavy rain can weaken trees and increase the risk of them falling onto roads and public areas.

Members of the public are encouraged to report such incidents promptly to enable emergency responders to take swift action and minimise risks to road users.
