SBS has announced its drama lineup for the second half of the year, with particular attention on the return of a well-received series for its second season.

The sequel comes two years after the original drama aired in 2024, which recorded double-digit ratings and was confirmed for continuation shortly after its finale.

The series “Flex X Cop” centres on Jin Yi Soo, a third-generation chaebol heir who unexpectedly becomes a detective in the violent crimes unit.

The drama follows his involvement in criminal investigations, combining elements of crime procedure with light humour and action.

It gained attention during its original run for its unusual premise and execution.

According to Nielsen Korea, Season 1 began with 5.7 per cent viewership ratings and showed a steady increase, reaching peaks in the 10 per cent range.

The drama maintained audience interest throughout its broadcast and continued to attract viewers through streaming platforms after its conclusion.

SBS has developed a reputation for producing similar crime and justiceoriented dramas, often scheduled in its Friday and Saturday prime-time slots.

Previous productions in this line-up include “Taxi Driver”, “The Fiery Priest”, and “One Dollar Lawyer”.

In Season 2, “Flex X Cop” will continue the story of Jin Yi Soo following his completion of police academy training and his return to the Violent Crimes Unit.

The new season is expected to focus on his development from an inexperienced recruit to a more established detective.

The cast will also see new additions. Jung Eun Chae joins the series as Joo Hye Ra, a former counterterrorism officer who becomes the new team leader of the unit.

Her character previously served as Jin Yi Soo’s instructor, creating a structured but tense working relationship in the new season.

Actor Yoo Seung Ho will make a special appearance as Yoo Sung Won, the youngest son of a conglomerate family who works as a sculptor.

This marks his return to television dramas after three years.

The production team remains unchanged from Season 1, with director Kim Jae Hong and writer Kim Ba Da continuing to lead the project.

They have stated that the sequel will maintain the tone of the original while further developing the storyline and characters.

An official broadcast date for “Flex X Cop 2” has not yet been confirmed, with SBS expected to announce its schedule for the second half of the year in due course.
