BINTULU: Narcotics police arrested an Indonesian man for allegedly possessing syabu drugs intended for distribution around Samalaju and the surrounding areas.

Local police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali in a statement, said that the arrest was made at Jalan Masjid on Wednesday.

“During the arrest, the police seized eight straw tubes containing suspected syabu weighing 5.3 grammes, from the 21-year-old suspect.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the drugs were intended for distribution around Samalaju and Bintulu, potentially catering to 25 users,” he said.

The suspect, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Nixon added that the suspect will also be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/53 for lacking valid travel documents.
