MIRI: The local police have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted his wife in a house at Kampung Lusut Jaya.
Initial investigations found that the cause of the 9.30pm violence on Saturday (Sept 25) was jealousy.
The suspect in his early 30s is believed to have hit and kicked his wife with his bare hands and feet after accusing her of having an affair with another man.
A police report was immediately lodged by the victim, who suffered injuries to her right ribs.
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, who confirmed the case, said the suspect was arrested by a CID team around 11.30pm on the same night.
The case is being investigated under Section 323/18A of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing injuries.
