KUCHING: Consumers in several parts of Kuching have been advised to make necessary preparations ahead of planned repair works on a 1,100mm main water pipeline at Jalan Matang this Friday (Sept 4).
Sarawak Water said the repair works are scheduled to begin at 10pm, with a number of areas expected to be affected.
Among the areas listed are Kuching City Centre and the Kuching Golden Triangle, Petra Jaya, Jalan Bako, Jalan Demak, Muara Tebas, Kampung Bintawa, Kampung Boyan, Kampung Gersik, Kampung Panglima Seman, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Pulo and Darulhana.
Other affected locations include Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol, Jalan Haji Mataim, Jalan Muda Hashim, Jalan Muhibbah, Jalan Patingan, Jalan Haji Bolhassan, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub and Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhamad Salahudin.
Kampung Siol Kandis, Jalan Siol Kandis, Taman Sorabaya Indah, Taman Sorabaya Height, Taman Vista Ibrahim, Taman Sri Harmoni, Jalan Sultan Tengah, Bukit Siol Reservoir Tank and the Matang area from Kubah Ria to Batu 9 are also expected to be affected.
The Jalan Batu Lintang Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) and surrounding areas are similarly expected to be affected.
Sarawak Water said its team is making the necessary preparations to ensure the repair works are carried out safely and efficiently.
Meanwhile, motorists and other road users have been advised to take note of a temporary traffic diversion at Jalan Matang during the works.
They are urged to follow traffic management signs and directions provided at the affected area.
Consumers in the affected areas have also been encouraged to plan ahead and make the necessary preparations before the repair works begin.
