KUCHING: The Kuching City Caring Youth Club has been commended for its grassroots initiatives to empower young people, in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development permanent secretary Morshidi Fredrick said youth empowerment is not an option but a strategic necessity as youth are the driving force of change and the leaders of tomorrow.

“Youth development is a shared responsibility, not only of the government but of the entire community.

“The Kuching City Caring Youth Club has become a model of how grassroots youth empowerment can create a significant impact for the state and nation,” he said when officiating at the Kuching City Caring Youth Club Appreciation Ceremony here.

Morshidi highlighted several initiatives organised by the club, including the Youth Community Legacy Camp which focuses on leadership and volunteerism, the Get Set Go SPM programme for academic preparation, and the Satok Xtive Youth Carnival 2025 which showcases youth talents and creativity.

He noted that the standout initiative is the Beads in Digital Business programme, which enables women to utilise beadwork skills through digital marketing to generate income.

During the event, Morshidi also presented a grant worth RM1,000 to participants of the programme.
