SARATOK: An oil palm farmer was arrested after allegedly punching his sister and threatening to kill her when she scolded him at their home in Kampung Nyabor here.
The incident happened on Aug 29 when the 40-year-old woman was getting up to go to the toilet and was allegedly attacked by her own brother.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the 42-year-old suspect punched the victim on the upper right side of her head and right shoulder before threatening her with death.
He then allegedly stormed out of the house and damaged the windscreen of her car with his bare hand, causing it to crack.
The woman lodged a police report the same day before seeking treatment at Kabong health clinic.
“Acting on information, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect.
“A urine screening also returned positive results for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“Background checks found that the suspect has three prior records involving theft, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt,” he said.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to punching his sister on the head and shoulder, claiming he did so because she had scolded him.
Mathew stated that he also admitted threatening to kill her after becoming angry with her. The suspect further confessed to damaging his sister’s car windscreen.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
