KUCHING: Nine air quality monitoring stations across Sarawak remained at hazardous levels as of 6pm today (Sept 1), down from 10 at noon.
Based on the latest Department of Environment (DOE) and Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) data, IPD Serian recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 374.
It was followed by Lubok Antu at 366, Kanowit (359), Tebedu (347), Kuching (346), Lundu (345), Sarikei (333), Sibu (323) and Samarahan (318).
Sri Aman recorded an API of 295, placing it in the very unhealthy category, alongside Bintulu at 247, Mukah (241), Betong (231) and Samalaju (226).
Meanwhile, ILP Miri recorded an API of 191, followed by Miri (186), Kapit (185), Limbang (173), Lawas (164) and Bario (144), all classified as unhealthy.
Under the API classification, readings between 101 and 200 are unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, 301 to 400 hazardous and 401 to 500 very hazardous.
