KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, has cautioned against speculation over his future political role in the upcoming state election (PRN), saying he is not yet ready to disclose any plans despite ongoing discussions surrounding the matter.
He acknowledged that he has ideas about his future involvement but declined to elaborate further, noting that enough had already been reported in the media.
“That has already been in the news, so let it pass. Water under the bridge. Looking forward, I have some ideas, but I am not ready to share more than that for now,” he said.
He was responding to a question on his future political involvement at a press conference after officiating at the First Malaysian Regional Geotechnical Engineering Conference 2026 (MRGEC2026) at the Imperial Hotel here today (June 17).
Despite keeping details of his future plans under wraps, Nanta assured party members and supporters that he would continue serving in whatever capacity he is entrusted with.
“I will continue my political service. Wherever I am placed later, I will still be active. I think I still have the energy to contribute and help,” he said.
He reiterated his appeal for restraint in interpreting his remarks, stressing that he was not prepared to discuss the matter further at this stage.
Nanta recently has hinted at the possibility of continuing his political career at the state level, saying he is interested in serving as a member of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) should the opportunity arise.
The Works Minister, who has represented Kapit in Parliament for nearly 30 years, said the matter would ultimately depend on the party leadership.
“If there is an opportunity and permission from the party leadership, I would like to continue my political service at the state level. However, that depends very much on the party leadership,” he said.
