LUNDU: Rural infrastructure projects worth a total of RM1.13 million under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) in the N1 Opar constituency are being closely monitored to ensure they are completed according to specifications and deliver maximum benefits to rural communities.

Opar assemblyman, Billy Sujang, said small-scale rural development projects, including the upgrading of drainage systems, agricultural roads and village access infrastructure, play an important role in improving the comfort, safety and well-being of residents.

“Continuous monitoring will be carried out to ensure that every approved project is completed to a high standard, meets quality requirements, and delivers a direct impact on the people,” he said.

He said this during a site visit to RTP projects in the N1 Opar constituency organised by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage at several locations around Lundu on Tuesday as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

Among the projects inspected were the RM350,000 Phase One drainage upgrading project in Kampung Tebaro and the RM300,000 agricultural road upgrading project in Kampung Sebiris, Lundu.

Both projects were undergoing their first site visit to assess site conditions and implementation requirements.

Billy also inspected the Phase Two drainage upgrading project in Kampung Sepadah, which is currently at the final inspection stage to ensure the completed works meet the required specifications before being officially handed over.

The visit also included the RM180,000 special project to construct an access road and culvert leading to the proposed multipurpose hall site in Kampung Sepadah, Bau.

The project is aimed at improving public access to community facilities while supporting various local activities.
