KUCHING: The ‘Coffee Chat with Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’ programme provided a platform for Pantai Damai youths to engage directly with local leadership.
Organised by the PBB Youth Movement of N.4 Pantai Damai Branch, the programme brought together about 60 youths, particularly representatives from Santubong Zone.
PBB Youth Movement Pantai Damai Branch chief Nurashniza Ashwin said the initiative was designed to strengthen communication and encourage direct engagement between youths and local leaders.
“This interactive session provides ample space for youths to voice their views, aspirations and constructive suggestions concerning youth development and progress within their local communities,” she said.
The programme also enabled participants to discuss matters affecting young people while sharing ideas aimed at strengthening community development and creating greater opportunities.
Nurashniza said such initiatives were important in ensuring that the aspirations of young people were heard and considered in shaping future development.
Meanwhile, Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi expressed pride in the youths’ participation and encouraged them to continue developing their potential.
“I hope the youths in Pantai Damai will continue to develop into highly capable and competitive human capital, while striving to become somebody and experts in their respective fields,” he said.
Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department, overseeing projects involving the Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic affairs, said young people had an important role to play in driving Sarawak’s future development towards becoming a more advanced and prosperous state.
He also stressed the importance of nurturing young talents so they could contribute meaningfully to their communities and the state.
The N.4 Pantai Damai constituency comprises three main zones; Santubong, Seberang Hilir and Telaga Air with youths from these areas forming part of its community.
The programme reflected the PBB branch’s continued commitment to strengthening engagement with younger generations and ensuring their concerns remain part of its development agenda.
Also present were PBB N.4 Pantai Damai Women’s Movement chief Rosmah Zaini, branch secretary Sebeki Jen and Youth Movement deputy chief Mohamad Zullizam.
