KUCHING: A proposal to establish a Police Alumni Cooperative was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the Sarawak Police Alumni Association to the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, at Astana Negeri Sarawak here today.

The delegation, led by its president, Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, sought guidance from Wan Junaidi on strengthening the association’s long-term welfare agenda for former police personnel in Sarawak.

Throughout its 12 years of establishment, the association had planned and implemented various welfare initiatives, particularly to assist members facing health problems, as well as providing assistance to the families of members who have passed away.

During the discussions, Wan Junaidi and the association focused on the proposed cooperative, which is envisioned as a sustainable financial mechanism to support the association’s welfare activities.

The proposed cooperative is expected to engage in business ventures, with proceeds channelled back to association members for their welfare.

In addition, the establishment of the cooperative will also allow members to hold shares and enjoy various benefits offered through the cooperative.

Wan Junaidi also shared successful cooperative models that had been established as references in realising the formation of the Sarawak Police Alumni Association cooperative.
