KUCHING: All 16 units under the Sarawak Premier’s Department are now implementing the MS ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), marking the department’s first unified push towards international quality certification.

Deputy Sarawak State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee said the move reflected the Sarawak Government’s commitment to strengthening governance, improving efficiency and raising public service delivery standards across the state administration.

He said the initiative was a significant milestone as it involved every unit under the department working collectively towards ISO 9001 certification for the first time.

“Tonight, we are also presenting the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Manual to the units under the Sarawak Premier’s Department as a manifestation of our continued commitment to strengthening the quality management system and enhancing service delivery standards.

“For the first time, all units within the Sarawak Premier’s Department have worked towards implementation so that we can achieve ISO 9001 certification,” he said.

He said this during the Mini Innovative and Creative Circle (ICC) Convention Awards Ceremony 2026 for the Sarawak Premier’s Department at the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Complex here on Saturday.

Hii said the adoption of the internationally recognised standard would ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are implemented systematically and consistently according to globally accepted benchmarks.

He added that the certification would further enhance the credibility and image of the department and government agencies among the public and external stakeholders.

According to him, the implementation also strengthens internal controls, risk management and compliance procedures while encouraging continuous improvement within the organisation.

He said all work processes would now be carried out in a more structured and documented manner with ongoing monitoring to improve the effectiveness of government service delivery.

The initiative is in line with the Sarawak Government’s aspiration to build a more responsive, dynamic and competitive public service capable of meeting future challenges.
