Raid nets two burglary suspects

MIRI: The cops here at wee hours of Wednesday, detained two local men suspected for their involvement in housebreaking.

This was accomplished during an operation carried out at a house in Taman Tunku Abdul Rahman Lambir.

The two men, aged 23 and 68, were detained at 4.34am by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation department (CID) personnel upon receiving public tip-off.

However, the arrest did not include the third suspect, as he was not inside the house when the police raided the place.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo and the third suspect have previous criminal record, related to house breaking.

During the raid, police also discovered two handphones and a tab believed to be stolen.

Both suspects are currently being detained at Miri central police station (CPS) for questioning.

Meanwhile, Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest made.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house breaking.
