KUCHING: Ramadan bazaars serve as a reflection of a harmonious community, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He noted that Sarawak is fortunate in that these bazaars are not only for Muslims but are enjoyed by everyone.

“We embrace each other’s cultures and stand in unity, rather than focusing on differences and conflict.

“I encourage all Sarawakians to visit the nearest Ramadan bazaar to experience this vibrant atmosphere.

“I also want to thank local councils across Sarawak for organising these bazaars, as they not only support small vendors but also foster unity and bring people together,” he said after declaring open the Bazar Ramadan Batu Kawa MPP on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim, who is also the Batu Kawa assemblyman, advised the elderly and those on medication to take care of their health during the fasting month to ensure they are in good condition for the celebrations.

At the same event, he also handed out caps, aprons, and containers of dates to each vendor.

The bazaar features a total of 70 stalls. Additionally, Ramadan bazaars under the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) are spread across nine locations namely Sentosa Town Square, Taman Malihah, Matang Jaya, Emart Matang, Emart Batu Kawa, Prince Commercial Centre, Swan Commercial Centre, Jalan Batu Kawah, and Kota Padawan.
