It appears Ryan Reynolds is not ready to hang up Deadpool’s iconic red suit just yet, with the actor confirming that the wisecracking antihero will return in a future project.
Speaking during a panel at Fanatics Fest 2026, Reynolds hinted that more Deadpool is on the way while reflecting on the wealth of comic-book stories that have yet to be explored on screen.
“There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics. There’s certainly some stuff that, you know, I love that Fabian Nicieza (co-creator of Deadpool) wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer.
“There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another ‘Deadpool’ film. It’s going to be great,” he said.
However, Reynolds stopped short of revealing any details, leaving fans guessing whether Deadpool’s next appearance will be in a standalone sequel, another Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ensemble film, or a crossover with other Marvel characters.
His latest comments mark a shift from what he said following the release of 2024’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, when he suggested that another solo film was unlikely.
“Centring Deadpool works best if you take everything away from him and put his back against the wall. I can’t really do that again,” Reynolds said at the time, adding that a fourth film risked feeling repetitive and redundant.
Despite those reservations, the enormous success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has kept the franchise firmly in Marvel Studios’ plans. The film, which reunited Reynolds with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and marked Deadpool’s official entry into the MCU, grossed more than US$1.3 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
While Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce another Deadpool instalment, Reynolds’ latest remarks suggest fans can expect to see the Merc with a Mouth back on the big screen in one form or another.
