KUCHING: Sarawak and Slovakia have explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in key areas including economy, trade, investment, education, technology, tourism and culture.
The discussion took place during Slovak Republic Ambassador to Malaysia Peter Spisiak’s courtesy call on Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri Sarawak here today.
Also present was director of the Sarawak Regional Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hendy Assan.
The meeting reflected the good relations between Malaysia and Slovakia while providing an opportunity to further strengthen ties with Sarawak.
During the meeting, Wan Junaidi and Spisiak exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including current developments and potential areas for cooperation.

Wan Junaidi also shared insights into Sarawak’s development across various sectors, including emerging economic areas such as renewable energy, in addition to its oil and gas sector.He also shared his views on the history of Borneo, stressing the need for it to be rewritten from the perspective of local historians to provide a more accurate account of the region’s history.
Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation for Spisiak’s visit and hoped that the friendship and cooperation between Sarawak and Slovakia would continue to be strengthened for mutual benefit.
