BARAM: The GPS government has many more development plans and programmes waiting to be implemented in the areas under the Highland Development Agency (HDA) and for this purpose a sum of RM1.5 billion has been allocated to the agency.
For this reason, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said voters in Telang Usan should give their full support to its incumbent Dennis Ngau who has been renominated to defend the seat which is in the HDA area.
He said with Telang Usan staying on as a GPS stronghold, all proposed programmes and plans could be implemented smoothly.
“To date, Telang Usan has received some RM750 million worth of development projects. This is unprecedented.
“Dennis has been a hardworking, very concerned and an approachable representative since winning the seat in the 2016 state election.
“He deserves to be given another chance to continue on with his excellent service to the people.
“He deserves to be given the chance to work with other GPS elected representatives in charting out more development and progress in the HDA for the people’s benefit,” he said when officiating at an Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) at Long Bemang here on Saturday (Nov 27).
Uggah who is also the Minister of Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development further said a vote for Dennis would be a vote for the Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“Abang Johari too has shown himself to be a leader of all races in the state. He is very concerned that development in the state reaches all races, especially those in rural areas.
“This is not a mere rhetoric as he has allowed the formation of the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA), the Highland Development Agency (HDA) and the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA), among others, which involve all communities in the state.
“Each agency had been allocated a sum of RM1.5 billion to carry out its socio economic and infrastructure development activities,” he pointed out.
Uggah said under Abang Johari, Sarawak too had remained politically stable and united, and this had enabled it to carry out its many development programmes.
He added that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the government had done much in safeguarding the people where it had spent RM400 million on various strategies and mitigation measures.
“Another RM5.3 billion under the various Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) packages has been allocated to help those affected.
“Then, we have the Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) to help in the development programmes of churches, chapels and temples. In addition, we have the special operating aid for mission schools and the churches, chapels and temples.
“Please do GPS a favour. Vote for Dennis this coming election. Give him a big majority so that the GPS government can continue with its plans and programmes for the people’s benefit,” said Uggah.
