SIBU: Sarawak’s progress in establishing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions was praised by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said previously, TVET was viewed as a secondary option, chosen by those who did not excel academically.

“There was no state in Malaysia having a lot of TVET training institutions, but Sarawak has established seven of them, introduced by the Sarawak Government, which include electric vehicles, robotics and more.

“Sarawak proves that TVET is a primary choice for young people to gain education for the future. This is what I support,” he said.

He made these remarks in his speech at the Pre-Gawai celebration organised by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) at Kingwood Hotel here last night (May 18).

He stressed that all the achievements would not be possible without political stability under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Sarawak is politically the most stable, and this political stability has brought much development and progress to Sarawak.

“I’m not comparing Sarawak with other states, but the fact is that the political stability enjoyed by Sarawak has brought it much renown.

“With Sarawak’s achievements in hydrogen, its Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is well known not only in Asia but also internationally,” he said.

Also present were PRS President Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, National Unity Minister Datuk Seri Aaron Ago Dagang and others.
