PADAWAN: An elderly man suffered severe injuries to his head after his motorcycle hit the back of a lorry at Mile 15 traffic light intersection, Jalan Kuching-Serian on Tuesday (Oct 5).

The 79-year-old victim was immediately rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the accident happened around 8.50am.

Investigations found that as the lorry was moving towards Jalan Clinker, Kota Samarahan during a green light, the victim who was riding a motorcycle suddenly crashed into the rear left tyre of the lorry.

He added that the 52-year-old lorry driver did not suffer any injuries in the morning accident.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving or riding.
