BETONG: A lorry driver was killed in an accident along KM10, Jalan Betong-Sarikei on Satruday (Feb 12).
Betong firemen were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call on the incident at 9.25am.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found the 10-tonne lorry overturned on its side. Its driver, identified as AyuhImau, 39, was trapped in his seat.
It was reported that the firemen had a hard time extricating the victim as part of his arm was stuck underneath the lorry.
It took the team about 20 minutes, with the help of an excavator from TRC Pan Borneo, to free the victim, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action.
