SIBU: The victory of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in the Jepak state by-election signifies the continuation of the legacy of the late Talib Zulpilip.

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the big win also proved the confidence in the leadership of PBB and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in continuing to bring development to the constituency.

“It is a signal of a strong support towards the leadership of GPS,” he said when met by New Sarawak Tribune at the PBB Special Convention 2023 for Sibu Zone at the Kingwood Hotel here today (Nov 5).

Ibrahim, who is also PBB deputy secretary-general described the big win of PBB in the Jepak state seat as a sweet victory.

In the recently concluded by-election, GPS’s candidate Iskandar Turkee obtained 9,638 votes and defeated his two challengers, Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Stevenson Joseph Sumbang, who garnered 854 votes; and Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak’s (Aspirasi) Chieng Lea Phing, who secured 431 votes.
